Taft Museum of Art – House of Masterpieces of Great Artists
Considered as one of the finest art museums in the USA, “Taft Museum of Art” stands as a National Historic Landmark of the country. The museum house was built in 1820 locating in Cincinnati, Ohio and was the residence of Charles Phelps Taft who was a half-brother of President William Howard Taft. After being home for Tafts from 1873 to 1929 it changed into the museum.
The museum now houses about 700 arts comprised of Chinese porcelain, American masterpieces and European old and decorative paintings. It displays a wide range of paintings that represent the era from even middle Ages to 19th and 20th centuries with a variety of paintings and murals of great artists such as Thomas Gainsborough, Jean Auguste, Frans Hals and many more. The Library of the museum gives the opportunity for student researches and professors to make the maximum use of its large number of books and other resources that provide information on the history, architecture and the collections of the museum.
The museum has been welcoming visitors for its inspiring art exhibitions and compelling programs from 75 years and making its environment as a destination full of excitement. One can explore its collections with or without a guide and even conference and lecture facilities are also arranged according to visitor requirement. Especially during the summer many educational programs are conducted by the museum along with diverse campaigns helping children identify and express their creativities.
More over the museum holds an annual party in museum’s garden, “Day and evening in the garden”, along with different themes and delicious food. This is an important occasion where people can gain some knowledge about arts and win raffles and many prizes as well. In addition Taft Museum of Art conducts some programs sessions to look at the link between arts and spirituality by enhancing faith in each religions. Another interesting event occurring in the place is the free Italian festival where people can have a time full of joy with the whole family. It offers the opportunity to enjoy folk dances, cultural displays, Cincinnati Opera while tasting traditional Italian cuisine.
Apart from that, excellent hotel accommodations are also available around the area. In particular Cincinnati hotels offer many practical choices.
