Planning What To Do In San Jose
Some may be surprised to hear that San Jose, California is the third largest city in the state and the 10th largest in the United States. There is no shortage of things to do within the city, and anybody wondering what to do in San Jose is usually met with several answers. The city is surrounded on three sides by mountains, making the climate drier than other cities in the area. In fact, some parts of the Bay Area may get up to four times as much rainfall each year as San Jose. Like many other areas of the state, the temperatures are generally moderate. This makes the city a prime destination for visitors or residents hungry for the outdoors.
There are several parks and gardens to explore in the city. For those interested in hiking trails or recreational parks, figuring out what to do in San Jose should not be challenging. The San Jose Municipal Rose Garden features 4,000 rose bushes, while Kelley Park is home to Happy Hollow Park & Zoo. Kelley Park also houses the Japanese Friendship Garden, History Park at Kelley Park and the Portuguese Historical Museum. The Guadalupe River Trail, the Los Gatos Creek Trail and the Los Alamitos Creek Trail may provide hikers or walkers with some amusement.
The HP Pavilion at San Jose is home to a few professional sports teams including the San Jose Sharks of the NHL. Other popular venues include the San Jose Jazz Festival, which is held annually downtown, and Spartan Stadium, which is home to the San Jose State University football team. The San Jose Improv is the city’s oldest theater and is home to many standup comedy shows.
There is no shortage of museums for those trying to figure out what to do in San Jose. The San Jose Museum of Art and the Tech Museum of Innovation provide popular exhibits for interested visitors. The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum houses the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts in the western part of the United States.
San Jose is also home to the largest public Library west of the Mississippi. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library has provided an enjoyable experience for many visitors and has been an excellent resource for many residents n the area.
