Clark Atlanta University (Clark) is another private, university in Atlanta, Georgia. It was established in 1988 with the consolidation of Clark College and Atlanta University. Atlanta University was first founded in 1865 by the American Missionary Association. By 1929-30, it was offering graduate education in selective liberal arts areas, and in social and natural sciences. Slowly it kept adding professional programs in social work, Library science, and business administration to its list too. After this, the university building was moved to its current place, and the contemporary association of the Atlanta University Center emerged, with Clark College, Morris Brown College, and the Interdenominational Theological Center, that joined the affiliation in later years.
Clark College was born in 1869 by the Freedman’s Aid Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church, which was later known as the United Methodist Church. The college was named after Bishop Davis Wasgatt Clark, who served as the first President of the Freedman’s Aid Society and was titled the Bishop in 1864. In 1871, the school moved to a new site of the newly purchased Whitehall and McDaniel Street property. Six years later, in 1877, the School was upgraded to the university level and named as Clark University.
Clark Atlanta University’s main campus has 37 buildings spread over 126 acres (0.5 km2) of land and is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) away from the middle of Atlanta, Georgia. Clark Atlanta is a four-year school, which offers undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as specialist and doctoral professional degrees and certificate programs also. The university is in charge of colleges of four disciplines, namely, Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, and Social Work and was successful to bag a position on The Washington Monthly’s 2008 list of “Best Colleges and Universities”.

Continuing the investigation on his own he must outwit the ruthless team of covert operatives from Area 51 who are protecting the governments greatest secret. Voices of Barrington, Illinois (Voices of America Series) $21.99 Originally settled by Irish, German, and English pioneers, the Barrington area has a long history of industrious and courageous citizens. In the early 1800s, these settlers laid the foundation for the Barrington of today: a colorful community beloved by residents and visitors. In a tribute to this town’s heritage, Voices of Barrington profiles the people who have made-and who continue to make-Barrington a place rich with character and small-town charm. In this collection, the men and women who recount stories of times past and present offer a behind-the-scenes look at how they overcame obstacles and helped to shape their community. Readers discover that the barber down the street also struggled through the Great Depression, and that the brew-pub owner moved entire buildings in order to establish his business. Historic photographs from the Barrington Fire Department, library, daily newspaper, and the contributors’ own family collections highlight the stories. The result is an intimate portrait of a typical-and extraordinary-American town. |
