Auburn or UC Davis high school requirements?
Im a sophmore in High School and I want to be a vet. Auburn and Davis look like really fun schools and I want to make sure that I’m taking the right classes but cant seem to find any information…is anyone a current student or recent alumni of either of these schools that could help me out?
currently I’m taking:
English 2 (H)
Chemistry (H)
World History (H)
Spanish 3 (which i would like to avoid taking next year so i can take AP US History)
Orchestra
Algebra 2 (H)
Marching/Jazz Band
My weighted GPA is around a 4.2 and unweighted it’s a 3.8 ish. I vounteer at the local animal shelter and the Library and I randomly tutor people in Geometry.
Is this a good start? are there any specific classes I should take?
Im gonna take Bio AP next year along with whatever comes next for everything else although Im going to take Pre-calc regular next year.
sorry for the long description but any advice would be GREATLY appreciated
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can’t find any information because the vet schools won’t care what you’re taking in high school. They only care what you’re taking in college. There are good things to take in high school and those are the courses that will prepare you for the college level courses. These include as much chemistry, biology and physics that your schol offers.
Also, your high school GPA will only matter to get you into undergrad, the vet schools won’t see it.
It’s good that you volunteer at an animal shelter, but you need to start working for a veterinarian as well.
UC Davis and Auburn might look like fun schools, but they accept very very few out-of-state students each year so unless you’re from California or Alabama you should broaden your search (preferably to include one in your state if possible)

Advancing American Art: Painting, Politics, and Cultural Confrontation at Mid-Century $19.95 “The Advancing American Art exhibition of 1946-47 provides fascinating insight into the dynamics of public involvement with fine art. After a brief but tumultuous and sensational history, this collection of contemporary works purchased by the State Department as an effort at cultural diplomacy was distrubuted mainly to educational instututions. A sizeable portion was acquired by Auburn University. Littleton and Sykes have collaborated on a conscientious study of these works and of the exhibition they represent.     “The Auburn collection is a substantial treasure [that] documents remarkably well a period critical to the development of American painting, and includes works of excellent quality. Its extraordinary history gives it great symbolic significance, and Professor Littleton and Sykes deserve much credit for a well-researched, intelligently presented study.”–Southern Humanities Review“The events surrounding Advancing American Art portray perfectly the dangers of censorship and nativism.” –Academic Library Book Review “Fascinating and also exemplary. . . . Littleton and Sykes have done a great service.”–Southern Changes |

Alabama Afternoons: Profiles and Conversations $14.15 Alabama Afternoons is a collection of portraits of many remarkable Alabamians, famous and obscure, profiled by award-winning journalist and novelist Roy Hoffman. Written as Sunday feature stories for the Mobile Press-Register with additional pieces from the New York Times, Preservation, and Garden & Gun, these profiles preserve the individual stories—and the individual voices within the stories—that help to define one of the most distinctive states in the union. Hoffman recounts his personal visits with writer Mary Ward Brown in her library in Hamburg, with photographer William Christenberry in a field in Newbern, and with storyteller Kathryn Tucker Windham and folk artist Charlie “Tin Man” Lucas at their neighboring houses in Selma. Also highlighted are the lives of numerous alumni of The University of Alabama—among them Mel Allen, the “Voice of the Yankees” from 1939 to 1964; Forrest Gump author Winston Groom; and Vivian Malone and James Hood, the two students who entered the schoolhouse door in 1963. Hoffman profiles distinguished Auburn University alumni as well, including Eugene Sledge, renowned World War II veteran and memoirist, and Neil Davis, the outspoken, nationally visible editor of the Lee County Bulletin. Hoffman also profiles major and minor players in the civil rights movement, from Johnnie Carr, raised in segregated Montgomery and later president of the Montgomery Improvement Association; and George Wallace Jr., son of the four-time governor; to Teresa Burroughs, a Greensboro beautician trampled in the march over the Edmund Pettus Bridge; and Diane McWhorter, whose award- winning book explores the trouble- filled Birmingham civil rights experience. Juxtaposed with these are accounts of lesser-known individuals, such as Sarah Hamm, who attempts to preserve the fading Jewish culture in Eufaula; Edward Carl, who was butler and chauffeur to |

Alicia D’anvers: Printed Writings 1641-1700: Series II, Part Two, Volume 2 $100 Born Alice Clarke, the daughter of Oxford university’s ‘first director of printing’, Alicia D’Anvers’ poetry demonstrates an intimate familiarity with Oxford and especially with the workings of the press. This volume reproduces three works: A Poem Upon His Sacred Majesty, His Voyage for Holland (1691), Academia: or, the Humours of the University of Oxford in Burlesque Verse (1691), and The Oxford-Act: A Poem (1693). A Poem Upon His Sacred Majesty… responds to William III’s decision to visit his native Holland to negotiate with fellow Protestants about their conflict with Catholic France. William, often impatient with English political wrangling, sometimes hinted that he might abdicate and return to Holland. D’Anvers’ poem reflects real anxieties about such an event, as well as solid support for the Protestant king. The copy reproduced in this edition is from the Houghton Library at Harvard University. Academia and The Oxford-Act concern more local matters. Probably D’Anvers’ best poem, Academia satirises some of Oxford University’s ‘younger sort’, often adopting language that seems as rough and coarse as that of the men that she mocks. The Oxford-Act focuses on the annual university ‘Act’ or commencement ceremony which lasted for several days and included many rituals. The copy reproduced here is from The Huntington Library. The copy of Academia is reproduced from that held at the Folger Shakespeare Library. Contents: Preface by the general editors Introductory note Alicia D’ANvers, Poem Upon His Sacred Majesty Academia Oxford-Act. About the Author:: Robert C. Evans, Auburn University Montgomery, USA |

In 1861, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences became the first U.S. school to award the Ph.D. Yale College was transformed, beginning in the 1930s, through the establishment of residential colleges : 12 now exist and two more are planned. Chapters: Edward Little High School, St. Dominic Regional High School, Auburn Public Library, Androscoggin County Courthouse and Jail, Charles L. Cushman House, Charles A. Jordan House, A. A. Garcelon House, Barker Mill. Excerpt: Auburn, Maine – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Main Street in c. 1912 The area was originally part of the Pejepscot Purchase, land bought in 1714 by a consortium from Boston and Portsmouth following the Treaty of Portsmouth, which brought peace between the Abenaki Indians and English settlements. But in 1736, the Massachusetts General Court granted a large section of the land to veterans of the 1690 Battle of Quebec. Conflicting claims led to prolonged litigation. Consequently, settlement was delayed until after the French and Indian Wars. It was first settled in 1786 as part of Minot, which was incorporated in 1802. Auburn would be set off and incorporated on February 24, 1842. The name was apparently inspired by Auburn, a place featured in the 1770 poem The Deserted Village by Oliver Goldsmith. Originally part of Cumberland County, the town became county seat of Androscoggin County at its creation in 1854. By annexing land from towns around it, including part of Poland in 1852, Minot in 1873 and all of Danville (first called Pejepscot) in 1867, Auburn grew geographically into one of Maine’s largest municipalities. Incorporated a city in 1868, Auburn in 1917 would be the first city in the state to adopt a council-manager form of government. Farms supplied grain and produce. But with construction of the bridge to Lewiston in 1823, and especially after arrival of the Atlantic and St. Lawrence Railroad from Portland in January 1848, the community developed into a mill town. Mills were built to operate by water power from fall… More: |
